REBUILD · WHAT THE AUDIT COVERS

A baseline, captured before anything moves

The free technical audit covers four measurable areas: speed, security, search and cost, in full on the technical audit page. Before a migration specifically, it does one more thing: capturing what currently ranks, what currently tracks, and what currently exists, so a rebuild can be checked against something real afterward.

THE MIGRATION-SPECIFIC LAYER

What gets captured before anything is touched

Beyond the four general audit areas.

RANKING BASELINE

Which pages rank, for what, right now

Pulled from Search Console before anything moves, so post-migration rankings can be checked against a real number.

REDIRECT MAP INPUTS

Every URL that has to survive the move

The starting inventory a redirect map gets built from, so nothing that currently ranks quietly disappears.

TRACKING INVENTORY

Every tag and pixel currently firing

Pulled from Tag Manager, so nothing marketing depends on stops working the day the new site goes live.

WHY IT NEEDS ACCESS

Four accesses, requested formally, revoked when the work ends

The standard audit runs externally. A migration baseline cannot.

Admin access, Search Console, Analytics and Tag Manager, the same four required before any migration begins. Search Console is the critical one: without it, which specific pages actually rank is a guess, not a fact, and a redirect map built on a guess is how rankings get lost in a move.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Questions about the audit before a migration

The ones that come up before anyone signs anything.

Same audit, same four areas: speed, security, search and cost. This page covers the extra layer that matters specifically before a migration: the baseline captured so a rebuild can be checked against it afterward, not just diagnosed once and forgotten.

The standard audit runs externally, no passwords needed. A migration is different: without Search Console, we cannot see which specific pages actually rank, for what terms, so we would be guessing which URLs must survive the move rather than knowing.

The rankings, traffic and page weight recorded before anything changes, so the after-rebuild numbers can be compared against something real. Without a baseline, "did the rebuild work" is a guess instead of a measurement.

Yes. About a third of the audits we run conclude the honest answer is not a rebuild. That verdict is in the report either way, free and unconditional, whether or not it leads to work for us.
